This Week:

We will have some time to introduce ourselves, familiarize ourselves with each other and the course, and discuss the reading for this week. We will also introduce some basic concepts of data visualization that will be useful for the rest of the course.

  • Think about the structure of a hypothetical data table behind a given graphic.

  • Identify the type of variable(s) visually encoded in a graphic (e.g. quantitative, qualitative).
